Cartoons: the big-time operators' tactics

You've probably guessed by now that I see Republicans' tactics as anathema to the well-being of America. Author Robin Abcarian quotes Allen Frances, who recently joined the Democratic Party, in President Trump is a 'world class narcissist,' but he's not mentally ill, says the psychiatrist who helped define narcissism:
Until recently, he said, “I would not have felt wedded to either party, but my highest political principle is fairness. Republicans do everything to rig the system against fairness. I don’t have personal love for the Democratic Party, but it’s the last salvation against the Dark Age.”
My thoughts exactly.

Here are some observations by cartoonists on the Republican approach to repealing Obamacare (AKA the Affordable Care Act).

Cartoons: Foggy Bottom reality

Saturday Night Live (SNL) is doing such a good job of satirizing this administration that the line between fact and fiction (if there is one) is becoming even harder to discern. BTW, the term Foggy Bottom is associated with the U.S. State Department, now somewhat defunct.

Even credentialed psychologists question Trump's mental health--from afar. One credentialed psychologist is says he's just a  "world class narcissist."

Cartoons: Lady Liberty speaks up

This week ever more trumpery was afoot with bans, alternative facts and other "really great" moves. Both Democrats and Republicans are beginning to oppose him. According to Time Magazine, "Congressional Democrats Have Closed Ranks Against President Trump" and "Republicans Begin to Break With President Trump" because of his ban on immigrants and refugees. Brave Americans are also speaking out against Trump and to support those burdened by Trump's edicts.

Since being inaugurated,Trump has
already signed two proclamations,  seven executive orders and seven presidential memoranda. He's invented a new form of presidential directive — the national security presidential memorandum — and signed three of those. (USA Today)
The article cited above has a complete list of these actions.

Imagine waking up today after being asleep since October...

According to Wikipedia, the Alt-right
has its roots on websites such as 4chan and 8chan, where anonymous members create and use Internet memes to express themselves. It is difficult to tell how much of what people write in these venues is serious and how much is intended to provoke outrage. Members of the alt-right use websites like Twitter and Breitbart to convey their message. Alt-right postings generally support Donald Trump and oppose immigration, multiculturalism and political correctness.

Cartoons: it's all in who's looking at it

Here are some viewpoints you may or may not find laughable.

Many news sources are reporting the demise of ObamaCare, despite its success in some states. The insurance companies are one of the parties contributing to its demise. (In case the print is too small to read, here's what it says: "We're pulling out of the ObamaCare marketplace. We can't continue to sell insurance to the poor if they're going to insist on using it.")

Cartoons: in the belly of the beast

To say that we're living in the belly of the beast sounds overly dramatic, but think about it. There's an election reasonable people can do little about; a tyrant decimating his own population; and school systems so underfunded that the teachers have to supply some necessities out of their own pockets. Then there's the U.S. Congress, so ineffectual that when a cartoonist refers to them as creepy clowns, many of us nod in agreement. Sadly, those elected representatives who make an effort to get something worthwhile accomplished are undermined by those that are there for the perks and/or power.

Here are the visuals for today's comments.

Today's mix looks at Wall Street, currency, wrongdoing in office, and the Republicans' mid-July convention.

Two cartoons: bad news vs good news

With all the vitriol in the air, I'm reluctant to add to it.  So here's a comment on the bad news and one on good news.  Take your pick.

Cartoons: skittles vs. skittish

These cartoons pretty much speak for themselves, so here they are -- without comments. Today's post takes its title from this cartoon by Joe Heller:

Cartoons: comments on recent news

There's an interesting piece of news today, Folks.  Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com, just bought the Washington Post.  His purchase and recent buy-outs of other newspapers are discussed in this article published by Forbes.  Here's a related cartoon, found at The Week and by Adam Zyglis; it's titled "Print Media's Future."
