Cartoons: Gag orders from the president
This caught my attention:
The USDA says the order rescinded, according to Reuters in the article titled USDA disavows gag-order emailed to scientific research unit. Here's a quote from the article:

The Trump administration is clamping down on public communications by agencies as it seeks to assert control over the federal bureaucracy. (The Hill)The Huffington post says it this way: Federal Workers Told To Halt External Communication In First Week Under Trump.

Cartoons: Americans ARE watching
Something very interesting happened this week--Americans altered the course of GOP congressmen. On January 3rd there was this headline: With No Warning, House Republicans Vote to Gut Independent Ethics Office. Then American voters reacted: Amid Ethics Office Debacle, Googling Congress Members Spiked. Sort Of. Then, Under fire, Republicans back off vote on House ethics changes. Here's a small collection of some cartoonists' takes on the ethics situation.
Meanwhile, North Korea's "supreme leader Kim Jong Un warned that the nation was in the "final stage" of preparations to test an intercontinental ballistic missile." The Atlantic has this article, How to Stop a Nuclear Missile, in the technology section.

Cartoons: putting Benghazi to rest
We have two topics today--the House Benghazi Report of 2016 and Brexit.
In the case of the report: House Benghazi Report Finds No New Evidence of Wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton. According to this reference, expenses to produce the report over a period greater than 2 years are estimated to be more than $7 million. Here's how some cartoonists view it.
At least 62% of Scots want to remain in the European Union; The Guardian asks, Can Scotland remain in the EU after Brexit? The Telegraph reports on where the EU referendum won and lost, saying Northern Ireland, Scotland and London only areas not to vote for Brexit. Here's some humor to go along with the news.

Today's mix looks at where Hilary, Donald and Bernie are in their campaigns.
Hilary has clinched the Democratic presidential nomination. To make it final there's the convention. When, where is the 2016 Democratic National Convention?
A week ago Joe Klein at Time Magazine said Donald still rules the airwaves, saying "He excels at “winning the news cycle”." This week it's a different story; the difference is Hilary found her voice.
Bernie's not gonna quit...At least not until the fat lady sings.

This week's cartoons talk about the TSA (US Transportation Security Administration); "perverts" in public bathrooms; and Budweiser's new name.
According to the Business Insider, The TSA is in a full-blown crisis. More than 450 American Airlines passengers stranded in the terminal overnight due to long lines is not good. And what does the TSA have against mother's milk?

Cartoons: cyber doomsday
If you're one of the estimated 14 million current or former civilian U.S. government employees, the hackers who recently broke into the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) now know all about you (and me). But don't feel alone--security firm Kaspersky Labs got hacked too.

Cartoons: Already missing Jon Stewart
"Jon Stewart to Leave 'The Daily Show' This Year," says the Rolling Stone. And it's sad news indeed. For me Jon Stewart is the voice of reason in a stridently polarized world. His forte was commenting on the news of the day.
Another reporter, this one supposedly a 'real' one, is leaving his post, having been shot down for gross inaccuracies, "Brian Williams' False 2003 Iraq Helicopter Claim Draws Scrutiny To Other War Exploits."
